Lisa Phillips

Lisa Lynn Phillips, 52, of Fairmont, passed away Thursday (Dec. 19, 2013), at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown following a short illness.

She was born in Bayonne, N.J., on Aug. 21, 1961, a daughter of Sondra (Millan) Blake of Fairmont and the late Eugene Blake.

Lisa was a loving homemaker, mother and grandmother. Before she became ill, she worked at Aegis Communications as a supervisor. She was Methodist by faith. She enjoyed raising and training dogs and spending time with her loving family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Robert Phillips of Fairmont; two sons, Matthew Phillips and his wife Jodi of Fairmont, and T.J. Phillips and his wife Olivia of Rivesville; and six grandchildren, Jauclyn Phillips, Guy Phillips, Adrian Nesbitt, Blake Nesbitt, Caylee Nesbitt and Devin Nesbitt.

Also surviving is her stepfather, Darrell Vandergrift of Fairmont; one brother, Terry Blake and his wife Cathy of Benton, Ill.; one sister, Dona Fike and her husband Rick of Fairmont; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, today from 1-9 p.m. and Saturday from 10-11 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ralph Wycoff officiating. Interment will follow at IOOF Cemetery in Enterprise.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
