— Michael (Mike Socks) Sokolosky Sr., 89, of Idamay, passed away on Thursday (Dec. 19, 2013), at Fairmont General Hospital.

He was born on Feb. 2, 1924, to the late Kasimier and Antonia Sokolosky.                                                                           

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Christine Sokolosky. He is also survived by four children, daughter Michell and Ed Buckner of Fairmont, and sons Michael Jr. and Debby Sokolosky of Charleston, Mitchell and Lisa Sokolosky of Winston Salem, N.C., and Marty and Randi Sokolosky of Arcadia, Fla.; grandchildren, whom he called his little mushkas, Bobby and wife Tammy Buckner, David Buckner and Eliza Moore, Christina Buckner-Drainer, Katie Sokolosky and David Knauer, Betsy Sokolosky, Emily Sokolosky, Tommy Sokolosky, Stephen Sokolosky, Sophia Sokolosky and Taylor Sokolosky; and great-grandchildren, Jason Beck, Gracie Buckner and Claire Drainer; sisters-in-law, Lena Sokolosky and Jane Hulderman; a cousin, Tunny Kniceley; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Joseph Sokolosky and John Sokolosky Sr. and sisters Anna Skirtish and Della Petro.

Michael was a veteran of World War II serving with the United States Navy. He was a coal miner and worked at various mines in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. In his later life, he loved his woodworking and spent hours in his shop. He loved sports and was an avid fan of West Virginia University.

Friends may call at Hutson Funeral Home in Farmington today from 5-8 p.m., where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Tim Shuttlesworth officiating. Interment will be in the Shinnston Masonic Cemetery.
