Virginia Garlow, 93, of Pleasant Valley, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday (Dec. 20, 2013) at Tygart Center in Fairmont.
She was born in Taylor County on Sept. 30, 1920, a daughter of the late John Watkins and Bessie Weaver Watkins.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Edwin “Ed” Garlow, on Oct. 22, 2009.
Virginia was a loving homemaker, wife and mother. She attended Valley Chapel United Methodist Church. She enjoyed camping and fishing with her husband, children and grandchildren. In her later years, she enjoyed rocking and singing in her rocking chair.
She is survived by three loving sons, Donald Garlow and his wife Mary, Edgar Garlow and his wife Diana, and Robert Garlow, all of Fairmont; two sisters, Dorothy Sinsel and Betty Jacobs, both of Grafton; a sister-in-law, Geraldine Garlow of Fairmont; 12 grandchildren and their spouses, Holly and Mike Mills, Melissa and Tracey Barker, Todd and Christine Garlow, and Bryan and Gina Garlow, all of Ohio; Kim and Shawn McCullough, Jeff and Michelle Garlow, Scott and Lisa Garlow, Janet Davis, Robert Bradley and Misty Garlow, Ranee and Shawn Maditz, Allen Garlow, and Brenda and Bob Gorman; and 25 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren, all of Fairmont.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Charles L. Garlow and his wife Sandra; and four sisters, Irene, Louise, Pauline and Elsie, and five brothers, James, Johnnie, Odd, Leo and Carl.
Mrs. Garlow’s family would like to thank Tygart Center and Genesis staff and Dr. Ang for their loving care during her illness.
Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, on Thursday from 1-8 p.m. and Friday from noon to 1 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home Friday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Scott Krepps officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Fairmont.
