Teresina Warash

Teresina (Teresa) Oliverio Warash, 91, of Monongah, was lifted by beautiful angels for her eternal rest on Thursday (Jan. 9, 2014), at home surrounded by her family.

She was born on March 10, 1922, in Chiefton, a daughter of the late John and Costanza Yaquinta Oliverio.

She was a longtime resident of the Monongah community. She worked at St. Barbara’s Memorial Nursing Home in Monongah. She was Catholic by faith and was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Monongah. Everyone loved her fresh-baked bread and pizzelle cookies.

She is survived by one daughter and a son, Connie Jean Warash of Monongah, and Anthony and wife Candace Jill Warash of Hillsbourgh, N.C., and one grandson, John Andrew Warash, who attends North Carolina State in Raleigh, N.C., who was the apple of her eye. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and two special girls Chloe and Abbey McClung of Fairmont whom she thought the world of.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Warash, on Jan. 26, 1962; two brothers, Sam Oliverio, who died in World War II, and Bill Oliverio; and also two infant children.

Friends may call at Ross Funeral Home, 801 Fairmont Ave., Fairmont, from 4 to 8 p.m. today and Sunday from 1 to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, at 10 a.m., at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Monongah with Fr. Richard Ulam, O.S.B. as celebrant. Interment will follow at Shinnston Masonic Cemetery in Shinnston.

A vigil service led by Deacon Lou Belldina will be held Sunday, at 6 p.m., at the funeral home.

She was under the compassionate care of her caretakers Courtney, Stormy, Amanda and Stephanie of Amedisys Hospice Care of Anmore.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
