— Surrounded by her family, Madeline Greco passed away peacefully on Thursday (Jan. 9, 2014), at Grandview Terrace in Weirton.

Born Feb. 22, 1925, to Michael Romino and Josephine LaCamera Romino in Fairmont, she married Ray Silvio Greco, M.D. on May 29, 1943, and celebrated 70 years of a happy marriage this past May. Dr. and Mrs. Greco have lived in Weirton since 1948.

She is survived by her husband; six children; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mary Romino of Fairmont; and several loving nieces and nephews, especially Josephine Hamrick, of Charleston, who was like a sister to her.

Mrs. Greco’s children include, Donne Paine of Hilton Head, S.C., Diane Fornari (Gabe) of Hilton Head, S.C., Deborah Catton of Pittsburgh, Pa., Dr. Ray Silvio Greco II (Kathy) of Covington, Ga., Sam Hens-Greco (Kathryn) of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Dr. Rick Greco (Carol) of Wheeling. She loved her daughters-in-law and son-in-law as her own children.

Mrs. Greco was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Forte, Rose Piscetelli, Dr. Leonard Romino, Nick Romino, Dr. Joseph Romino, Dominick Romino and Anthony Romino.

A graduate of West Fairmont High School in 1942 and an attendee of Fairmont Business College, she moved to Weirton in 1948, where she and her husband raised their family. She was well known for her gracious manner, warm hospitality, and commitment to her family, her church and her community. She touched the lives of many and will be sorely missed.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. today and Sunday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St., Weirton. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church Weirton.

The Greco family would like to give their heartfelt thanks to Lisa Fetty for all of the love and care she provided to Madeline in the recent years.
