Donna Lue (Barniak) Shobe, 75, of Rock Cave, and formerly of Fairmont, went to be with the Lord on Thursday (Oct. 4, 2012) at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon.
She was born in Marion County on March 4, 1937, a daughter of the late Lewis and Mary Elizabeth (Hager) Barniak.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Leland Shobe, in March of 2006.
Donna was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an insurance agent by trade, working for Aflac Insurance for 16 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed painting, singing and dancing.
She is survived by four sons, George Jones of Fairmont, Michael Jones of Colorado, Timothy Jones and his wife Angie of Parkersburg and James Jones and his wife Tonya of Parkersburg; two daughters, Mary Blaniar and her husband Roger of Shinnston and Deborah Swiger and her boyfriend Dennis Godfrey of Rock Cave; and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Nick Sandy, Zach Sandy, Misty Sandy, Klara Huss, Mistyazia Beatty, Bryzon Sandy, Michael Todd Jones, Elizabeth Jones, Logan Jones, Suzie Jones, T.J. Jones, Tommy Jones, Jamie Jones, Jessica Jones and James Jones.
Also surviving is her brother, Charlie Barniak of Richie County; two sisters, Martha Barniak of Fairmont and Joanie Bias and her husband Butch of Grafton; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Barniak.
Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, on Monday from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 11 a.m.-noon. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at noon with Brother Keith Fought officiating. Interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown.
