Russell Hennis

Russell Edward Hennis was born Nov. 26, 1932, in Fairmont, and died Friday (Dec. 14, 2012) in The Villages, Fla.

He attended Ascension Lutheran Church, Ocala, Fla. He was a 32nd Degree Mason. He served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was very active in his children’s high school sports and other youth sports.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Ann Tonia Hennis of Summerfield, Fla.; sons, Mark E. Hennis of Cunningham, Tenn., and Donald Hennis of Callahan, Fla.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life was held at an earlier date at the Ascension Lutheran Church in Ocala, Fla. In addition, there will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. Sunday, at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Farmington. A meal will be provided following the service at the Life United Methodist Church, 1564 Mary Lou Retton Drive in Fairmont.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
