— Dr. Billy Gean Dunn, 82, of Peterstown, formerly of Fairmont, passed away Tuesday (Dec. 10, 2013) at his home.

Born Dec. 20, 1930, at Peterstown, he was the son of the late William and Bertha Rice Dunn.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from Concord College, a master’s degree from the University of Kentucky and a doctorate from West Virginia University.

He served in the U.S. Army, was business professor at Lees Junior College in Kentucky and was employed as a cost accountant at the Celanese Corp. Billy was a faculty member at Fairmont State University from 1956 to 1993. He was a full professor of business, director of institutional research, director of federal programs and registrar. He was selected for induction into the FSU Student Affairs Hall of Fame for his years of service to the university students. He was also a U.S. Army Korean War veteran.

Billy loved to play golf and had four holes-in-one.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Wills Dunn.

Survivors include his loving wife, Patricia Deane Dunn; one daughter, Barbara Bennett and husband Gary K. of Fairmont; two sons, Morgan Dunn and wife Libby of Dallas, Texas, and Shawn Dunn and wife Kathy of Fairmont; four grandchildren, Brian Bennett and wife Jane, Lindsey Bennett, and Clay and Brady Dunn; and one great-grandson, Charlie Bennett.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 11 a.m. today at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Market St., Peterstown, with Pastor Jerry Sawyers officiating with a visitation one hour prior to the service.

A second visitation will be held on Saturday at the Ross Funeral Home, 801 Fairmont Ave., Fairmont, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
