Elizabeth Talbott Treacy, 87, formerly of Fairmont, died Friday (Dec. 27, 2013).
Born Elizabeth Caroline Talbott on Aug. 31, 1926, in Fairmont, she was the daughter of the late Robert M. and Ruth Talbott. Elizabeth “Betty” graduated from Fairmont High School and received a B.A. in education from Fairmont State College in 1947.
An English teacher, she taught at Oakland High School in Oakland, Md., Beall High School in Frostburg, Md., and retired in 1988 from Allegany High School in Cumberland, Md. She made a difference in the lives of all her students.
She loved to garden, read, antique and spend time with her family.
Elizabeth is survived by her sister, Mary Jane Ciolek of Bradenton, Fla.; and four children, Cynthia Folk of Martinsburg, Suzanne Woodside (Tom NaSell) and Jane Treacy (Phil Eagleburger) of Washington, D.C., and Lisa (Terry) Lamberth of Lake Mary, Fla. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Jennifer, Erin, Meghan, Cara and Nicholas; and one great-grandchild, Amy.
Services will be held at Christ Episcopal Church in Fairmont at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Following the service, burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
