Charles Blair Jr.

Charles Arthur “Art” Blair Jr., 89, of Clarksburg, passed away Friday (Dec. 27, 2013) at the Arbors at Fairmont in Fairmont.

He was born Dec. 6, 1924, in Harrison County, a son to the late Charles A. Blair Sr. and Minnie (Burns) Blair.

He is survived by his two sons, Robert Blair and wife Ruth of Rivesville, and Pat Blair and his wife Martha of Clarksburg; a daughter-in-law, Ruth Ann Blair of Clarksburg; two granddaughters; a brother, Ernest Blair of Canton, Ohio; a sister, Louise Boocks of Quiet Dell; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary D. Blair, who died Nov. 8, 2009; a son, Michael Blair, who died Dec. 7, 2007; and a sister, Chlorine Isabella.

Charles retired in 1978 from PPG Glass in Stonewood as a machine operator.

Mr. Blair was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose No. 52 in Clarksburg.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Arbors at Fairmont.

Friends will be received at Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 E. Main St., Clarksburg, from 2-7 p.m. Monday, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Samuel Cale III presiding. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
