Sharon Summers

Sharon Kay (Perrine) Summers, of Fairmont, passed away peacefully on Dec. 22, at her home.

She was born in Marion County on March 29, 1949, a daughter of the late Gilbert R. Perrine and the late Goldie Marie (Davis) Perrine.

Sharon was retired from the West Virginia Department of Human Services. She enjoyed spending time with her loving grandchildren and her dogs, Tessa and Precious, as well as her cats. She will be sadly missed by all.

Sharon is survived by two sons, Jerry Allen Delligatti, and James Francis Delligatti and his wife Crystal Dawn; and her four grandchildren, Mercedes Dawn Glaspell, Alexis June Glaspell, Amanda Dawn Delligatti and Anthony James “AJ” Delligatti.

Also surviving are two brothers, Gilbert Eugene Perrine and Shawn Patrick Burns; three sisters, Carolyn Louise Perrine Gore, Charline Marie Perrine Powell and Lisa Marie Perrine; her stepmother, Sharon Rose Smallwood Perrine; several nieces and nephews, among them, Shannon Marie Morris, Johnny Eugene Perrine and Carey Stewart Ferrel; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by a nephew, Jamie Alan Stewart.

In keeping with the wishes of the deceased, her body has been cremated.

The family will receive friends at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., on Thursday from 3-4 p.m.  A memorial service will be held in the funeral home at 4 p.m. Thursday with Pastor James Saunders officiating.

Mrs. Summers’ family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
