Helen Konopko Dorsey, 82, of Fleming Avenue, Rivesville, passed away Jan. 2, 2014, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 12, 1931, in Shinnston, daughter of the late Pete and Valeria Viola “Schmidt” Konopko.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Joseph Dorsey, who died in 1998.
Mrs. Dorsey was a previous member of Assumption Catholic Church in Rivesville,. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and sewing. She also very much enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Valerie and Jim Hershman of Rivesville, and Barbara and Tim Potesta of Fairmont; five grandchildren, Jimmy and his wife Sheena Hershman, Heather and her companion Mike Hollandsworth, and Justin Hershman and his girlfriend Victoria Colasessano, all of Rivesville, and Joshua Potesta and Joseph Potesta, both of Fairmont; a great-grandchild, Jimmy Hershman III of Rivesville; two brothers, John “Yosh” Konopko and Leo “Pokey” Konopko, both of Rivesville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a grandchild, Nicholas Potesta; four brothers, Everett, Henry, Ralph and Chester Konopko; and two sisters, Beatrice Stetz and Wanda Husty.
Family and friends may call at Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, Jasper Street, Rivesville, from 1-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Monday, at 1 p.m., with Deacon David Lester officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont.
