Frank Matthew Lencek, 94, of Fairmont, died Saturday (Jan. 4, 2014).
He was born July 28, 1919, in Thomas, son of the late Frank and Mary Johanna Merhar Lencek.
Frank was a graduate of Thomas High School class of 1936, and attended West Virginia Business College. He was a former employee of Consolidation Coal Co., where he was employed in the purchasing department. He retired as superintendent of Human Resources and Labor Relations for Bethlehem Coal Northern West Virginia after 43 years of employment. Frank was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion Post 17, the VFW Post 629 of Fairmont, a 50-year-plus member of the Fairmont Elks 294, and a 50-year member of Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed cooking and was an avid fisherman, hunter and golfer. Along with his wife, he traveled extensively throughout the world.
Frank is survived by his daughter, Carol Jean Harris and her husband William D. Harris of Fairmont; one grandson, Erik D. Harris and his wife Barbara of Harpers Ferry; one great-grandson, Matthew, also of Harpers Ferry; a sister, Roselyn Bosnak; nieces Cilla Shindell and Patricia Gail Cales, both of Dayton, Ohio, and Velma Lee and Mary McGurgen, both of Virginia; and nephews Robert Vanderslice of Dayton, Ohio, and Theodore Bosnak of Oakhill, Va. He also leaves behind his devoted tom cat, Teddy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo Renner Lencek; sisters Marie Vanderslice and Virginia Joanne Rauch; and his brother, Robert John Lencek.

Family and friends may call at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave., Fairmont, from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, and 10-11 a.m. Wednesday. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
