Nancy Leta Haddix

Nancy Leta Haddix, 73, of Fairmont, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at Ruby Memorial Hospital following a hard and determined fight against cancer.

She was born Jan. 27, 1940 in Charmco, one of 15 children born to the late Glen Lake and Ina Pearl (Nutter) McClung.

Nancy Leta was a faithful member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Fairmont. She loved serving at Fellowship Baptist Church. For many years she served on the bus ministry, two- and three-year-old Sunday school class, other children and young peoples’ ministries, vacation Bible School, and preparing and assisting with food for bereaved or ill church members. She has kept many missionaries and other servants of the Lord in her home.

She was well-loved by many. She will be greatly missed by her family and her church family. We will miss her friendly smile, her hospitality, her love, her hard work and her determined spirit.

Nancy loved flowers, birds, gardening, canning and being outdoors. She loved spending time with family, her devoted husband, Charlie, and her daughter, Bernadette. She dearly loved spending time with her sisters. Her grandchildren were the joy of her last few years.

Nancy retired from Westinghouse/North American Philips of Fairmont following 34 years of service.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles Arless McClung, Levi Earl McClung, Glen Lake McClung II and Lewis Edward McClung, and three sisters, Arlene Jane McClung, Eva Myrl McClung and Imogene Pearl Herndon.

Survivors include her husband of 36 years of marriage, Charles Edward Haddix; her daughter, Bernadette Paula Lacy and her husband Jason; seven sisters, Mary Evelyn Goodson of Rainelle, Bonnie Mae Fowler of Charmco, Ruby Lou Herndon of Mannington, Barbara Ann McClung of Rainelle, Agnes Louis Bowyer of Caldwell, Jane Faye Woods of Fairmont and Millie June Evans of Amherst, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; dearly beloved friend, Catherine Shuman and her family; and four very special grandchildren, Charles Edward Lacy, Katherine Joy Lacy, Abigail June Lacy and Nanette Leta Lacy.

The family would like to thank the care of Dr. John Azar’s oncology staff of Fairmont, the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center and WVU Hospitals. They would also like to thank family and friends for all the prayers, support and concern.

Friends and family may call at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., from 1-8 p.m. Wednesday. Visitation will continue on Thursday at the Fellowship Baptist Church from 1-2 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Thursday at the church with Pastor Glenn Stevenson officiating.  Interment services will follow at the Nuzum Cemetery.

Online condolences may be sent to the Haddix Family at www.carpenterandford.com.
