Carolyn Stewart

Carolyn Lee Stewart, 66, of Clarksburg, passed away Jan. 8, 2014, at United Hospital in Clarksburg after a long battle with cancer.

She was born May 24, 1947, in Mannington, a daughter of the late George Woodrow Stewart and Helen Hayes Stewart Welch.

Carolyn is survived by her sister, Beverly Brower of Wadestown; two nephews, Troy and Darlene Brower of Mannington, and Michael and Jill Brower of South Lyon, Mich.; two nieces, Tracy and Robert Worobi of South Lyon, Mich., and Tara and Craig Fancher of Fairmont; nine great-nieces and great-nephews; the love of her life and soul mate, Raymond A. Cox, and his son Chris; and two aunts, Mary Jo Arnett of Fairmont, and Jeanie and Jim Murtaugh of Florida.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her stepfather, Harold Welch, and a brother, Michael Stewart.

Carolyn attended the Business College in Clarksburg. She retired from the business office at Sears in Clarksburg. She was a member of the Truth Assembly Chapel in Wadestown. She enjoyed art work and doing portraits. Carolyn loved the Lord and was a true friend, loving aunt and wonderful sister.

Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, on Saturday, from 2 p.m to 8 p.m. Funeral services will take place on Sunday in the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Jason Morgan and Pastor Jerry Teeter officiating. Burial will follow at the Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
