Dorothy Badger

Dorothy Ruth Stiver Badger, 96, of the Smithtown Community, passed away on Wednesday (Nov. 27, 2013) at Fairmont General Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born March 16, 1917, in Salem, Ohio, a daughter of the late Harold and Anna Blanche Pettitt Stiver. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren M. Badger, in 1999.

Mrs. Badger was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance in Morgantown. She was a graduate of Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, with a degree in education.

Dorothy worked as office manager and bookkeeper for over 30 years at Fairmont Engineering, which she owned with her husband Warren. She later served as bookkeeper with the Little Creek Public Service District, with which she was still active. She had previously enjoyed traveling with her husband and the Antique Car Club. They had visited each one of the continental states, as well as the southern provinces of Canada. Dorothy was philanthropic and enjoyed giving to many local charities.

She was survived by her son, Wayne and his wife Changfen Badger of Fairmont; her grandchildren, Warren and his wife Mackedie Spiker of Houston, Texas, Wendell Spiker of Houston, Texas, and Lian Wang of Fairmont; as well at two great-grandsons. She is also survived by her lifelong friend, Carolyn Kuhn.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughters, Patricia Badger Spiker, Priscilla Badger and Sara Badger Culley, as well as her granddaughter, Heather.

Memorial donations may be made to the Christian Missionary Alliance, 308 Elmhurst St., Morgantown, WV 26505.

Friends and family may call the Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, on Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. The funeral will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Doug Miller officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery and Mausoleum.
