Julia Shelosky, 93, of Monongah, died Wednesday morning (Nov. 27, 2013), at St. Barbara’s Memorial Nursing Home in Monongah.
She was born on Aug. 31, 1920, in Rachel, daughter of the late Michael and Helen Homa Lazorick.
Julia was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Monongah, and a former member of the St. Stanislaus Church Guild. She loved to quilt, can food and garden, and also enjoyed going out to eat, and watching football and basketball games.
Julia was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by her children: son, Tom and wife Phyllis Shelosky of Monongah, daughter, Becky Carvillano of Fairmont, daughter-in-law, Linda Shelosky of Monongah, and daughter, Barbara Shelosky and husband Eric Willis of San Diego, Calif. She is also survived by her grandchildren and spouses, Brenda (Tracy) Myers, Greg (Joyce) Shelosky, Monica (Duane) Cochran, Brian (Angie) Shelosky, Jeff Shelosky and companion Jennifer Frame, Mark (Tracy) Carvillano, John Carvillano, Shelly (Kevin) Watson, Stephany (Mike) Blickenstaff, and Andrea Shelosky and (Tim) Matthews. She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Stanley “Strob” Shelosky in 1993; one son, Bernie Shelosky; one son-in-law, Anthony Carvillano; two brothers, John Hudanich and Mike Lazorick; and seven sisters, Mary Pancake, Anna Napalo, Susan Fonte, Margaret Jean Lazorick, Anna Paul, Helen VanHorn and Bernice Rudy.
Friends may call at Ross Funeral Home, 801 Fairmont Ave., Fairmont, on Monday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., and a vigil service will be held at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Monongah with Fr. Richard Ulam, O.S.B. and Fr. John Mulcahy as celebrants. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Monongah.
