Eddie Copenhaver

Eddie “Ed” Jordan Copenhaver passed away Sunday (March 17, 2013) at Monongalia General Hospital.

He was born March 31, 1951, in Pocahontas County, a son of the late Heskell Andrew Copenhaver and Margie McMillion Copenhaver.

Ed also was preceded in death by his one sister, Evalee Copenhaver.

He is survived by one brother, Mont Copenhaver, his wife Dorothy and their children and grandchildren from Princeton; daughter, Becky Stanley from Williamsport, Md.; and many close, personal friends.

He was a retired coal miner who most recently worked at the Federal No. 2 Patriot mine. He also was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Ed will be remembered with a memorial service Friday at Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, Second and Jasper streets, Rivesville. The family invites visitors to arrive beginning at 10 a.m. for anyone who wishes time to visit before the service. The actual service will begin at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Bill Toothman officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be sent to the West Virginia Rescue Ministries (Union Mission), 107 Jefferson St., Fairmont, WV 26554 in Ed’s memory.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
