Lillian King

Lillian Bernice Preston King, 80, a resident of Genesis Healthcare Salem Center, Salem, passed away Friday (April 4, 2014).

She was born Jan. 30, 1934, in Fairmont, a daughter of the late William and Pearl Lawrence Preston.

She is survived by her loving husband of more than 60 years, Clarence “Bill” King; three sons, William (Linda) King of Fairmont, Gary King of Taylor County and David (Cathy) King of Teays Valley. Lillian and Bill were longtime residents of Bellview Community. Also surviving are grandchildren, Jeremy, Amanda, Shannon, Brooke and Alex King; and great-grandchildren, Taylor and Brady Summers and Logan King.

Lillian was a homemaker who had many interests including sewing, gardening, researching genealogy, flea markets and traveling around the state. In addition, she enjoyed time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lillian was Methodist by faith.

Lillian is also survived by three sisters, Louise (Bud) Hillberry, Ruth (John) Hurt and Eloise (Delbert) Fahrner; by a sister-in-law, Charlotte (Leonard) King; and many nieces and nephews.

Lillian was preceded in death by her siblings, Leroy, Walter, Robert, John (Butch) Preston, Herbert Fisher and Betty Fisher and adopted sister Lillian; in-laws, Bud Hillberry, Leonard King, Margie and Morris Grandstaff.

The family will receive friends at the Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont, on Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. with Reverend Aslam Barket officiating. At the request of the deceased, the body will be cremated following the funeral service. A private committal will be held at a later date in the West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown.
