Mary Rosalee (Morris) Dayton, 87, of Morgan Ridge, passed away on Saturday (Aug. 17, 2013) at Pierpont Center at Fairmont.
She was born in Marion County on Feb. 5, 1926, a daughter of the late John Marshall Morris and Mary Louise (Travis) Morris.
She graduated from East Fairmont High School. She worked for many years as a seamstress for Marjorie Moran at Marjorie’s Upholstery on Morgan Ridge.
Rosalee was a faithful member of the Bunner Ridge Church of Christ. In addition, she volunteered with the Winfield District Fair and the Bunner Ridge Community Building. She was a member and office holder of the WWI Ladies Auxiliary Marion County Barrack 2155 in honor of her father. Most of all, Rosalee loved and cared for her family.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, William Lester and Jean Dayton of Grafton, and Ronald Earl Dayton and Linda of Bunner Ridge; her daughter, Nancye Louise Perry of Fairmont; two brothers and a sister-in-law, L. Loraine Morris of Fairmont, and John Linden and Cora Morris of Fairmont; and her sister and brother-in-law, Arletta and Robert “Bob” Lemasters of Fairmont.
Rosalee is survived by nine very special grandchildren and their spouses, Ronald J. and Susan Dayton, Shawn Dayton, David and Sharon Dayton, Gary Dayton, Dena Dayton, John E. and Cristal Perry, Idona Kay Kees, Linda Lynn Bunner and Barbara Kendrick; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Valldeen and Naomi (Shipman) Morris; a nephew, James Wyer; and a longtime friend and companion, Walter Capral.
Friends may call at the Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., on Monday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The funeral service will be on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Evangelist Norman Floyd officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Nebo Cemetery.
