Hazel Turner Ash, 83, of Westwood Medical Center, Bluefield, Va., a former resident of Mountain View Avenue in Bluefield, W.Va., and Fairmont, died Thursday (Aug. 15, 2013), at her residence.
Born Feb. 10, 1930, in Jenkins, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Henry Grady Turner and Lenora Mason Turner.
She was a former volunteer at the Fairmont General Hospital in Fairmont and had been a resident of the Bluefield area since 2005, moving there from Fairmont. Hazel was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Fairmont.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Leon Ash; and three sisters, Olene Matter, Ruth Weaver and Norma Whetzel.
Survivors include daughter, Rebecca Ash Little and husband Rex of Lansing, N.C.; son, Scott Ash and wife Brenda of Athens; daughter, Kelly “Marie” Erserver and husband Dr. Hakan Erserver of Banner Elk, N.C.; three grandchildren, Kevin Laxton, Clint Laxton and Amanda Aliff; six great-grandchildren, Ryan, Hayden, Patrick, Emily, Aubrey and Jackson; and one brother, Danny Turner of Danbury, Conn.
Graveside services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont. Those attending the service are asked to meet at the cemetery by the service hour on Saturday. Friends may visit with the family immediately before and following the service.
