Paul Meredith Jr.

Paul Kelly Meredith Jr., 72, passed away surrounded by family and friends.

Paul was born in West Virginia to Paul and Jettie Meredith. Paul was the loving and devoted husband of Marie for 40 years. He was the loving father to four boys and one daughter, 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Paul worked as a mechanic and later served as a service manager in the automotive industry. Paul also loved reading and earlier in life was an avid bowler and enjoyed woodworking.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Marie, and his sister, Rudy Williams.

Paul will be deeply missed by daughter, Paula Thomas of Dale City, Va.; sons, James Meredith of Dale City, Va., Mark Meredith of Richmond, Va., Joseph Meredith of Florida, and Paul Meredith of Jerrett, Va.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his brothers, William Meredith of Emmittsburgh, Md., and Lloyd Meredith of South Carolina; along with a host of other family and friends.

Friends and family will gather at Bethel Freewill Baptist Church, 3613 Pennington Lane, Woodbridge, Va., from 7-9 p.m. Friday. A life Celebration Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethel Freewill Baptist Church, and internment will follow at Mount Comfort Cemetery, 6600 S. Kings Highway, Alexandria, Va.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
