Priscilla Frey

Priscilla May Frey, 66, of Fairmont, passed peacefully from this life, with her loving family by her side, early Friday morning (Aug. 30, 2013). She was in her home under the helpful eye of Hospice Care, after a complex and painful battle with lung cancer.

She was born in Richwood, on June 6, 1947, the eldest of four children of Darious and Mary “Peg” Cochran Sisler.

Prissy is a Christian and was a member of the former St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Her faith and confidence in God is what sustained her through the last eight months, and got her through last night.

She has held a variety of positions over the years. Her primary vocation has always been babysitting. She has helped raise more children than she could count, and loved every one of them, and was loved by most. She was starting into the second generation of children when she stopped.

She had also worked as an Avon representative or a Mary Kay beauty consultant, both of which she did after watching children all day. She had also worked in the kitchen at Fairmont General Hospital for a while.

Several years ago she decided she wanted to help me, her husband Bob Frey, and be a part of helping the families that we have served. She not only worked as my secretary and right hand but also a hair dresser, cosmetologist, greeter, coffee maker, housekeeper and anything else that needed to be done at the funeral home.

Prissy was one of those people that just couldn’t sit still. She had to be doing something all the time, usually doing things for someone else. She didn’t belong to any organizations, other than being a former Mary Kay beauty consultant, but she was more active than three people. She had a very wide variety of interests, and could do anything she set her mind to.

She had collections of tea pots, teddy bears, wind chimes and angels. She loved going to camp and sitting on the porch, watching the river flow by or reading one of her books. She loved to cook and bake, and organize holiday dinners and gatherings, especially for her family.

Mrs. Frey is survived by her loving husband and best friend of 33 1/2 years, Robert “Bob” Frey; two daughters, Cheri Michelle Hamilton and companion Less Boggess, and Ann Marie Gallaway, both of Fairmont; two stepdaughters, Lisa and Ricky Ward of N. Ft. Myers, Fla., and Katrina and Doug Hood of Cape Coral, Fla.; one stepson, Bryan Frey of Cape Coral, Fla.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolan and Larry Deffinbaugh of Flintstone, Md., and Sharon and Philip Rohrer of Newmarket, Md.; one sister-in-law, Wendy Sisler of Cumberland, Md.; four grandchildren, Geronimo Scott, Hannah Ward, Emily Hood and Hayden Hood; several nieces and nephews, including Len and wife Cassie Deffinbaugh of Charlotte, N.C., Rachael and husband Jeremy Morrison of Huntingtown, Md., Sarah and husband Dan Monteau of Aykesville, Md., Kaitlyn and Emily Sisler and Josh Bittner of Cumberland, Tom St. Clair of Shinnston, and Jill and Brian Gerrard of Collinsville, Okla.; many, many cousins; her mother-in-law, Minnie Frey-Allevato and husband John; her canine buddy, Ziggy; and Willey, Rocket, Smokey, Punkin and Tecara, her feline buddies; also a close family friend David Merrill of Fairmont.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, David Wayne Sisler; a host of aunts and uncles; her father-in-law, Bob Frey Sr.; and her canine buddy Scruffy.

Friends may call at the Frey Home For Funerals (Addition Chapel - A), 320 Madison St., Fairmont, today from 1-8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. A celebration of her life will be held in the funeral home Sunday at 3 p.m. with Pastor Larry Buckland officiating. Her committal service will be held at the West Virginia National Cemetery Tuesday at 11 a.m. The procession will leave the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday for anyone wishing to attend.

We are requesting that memorial contributions be made in her name to the Marion County Humane Society at P.O. Box 905, Fairmont, WV 26555-0905, the American Cancer Society, 122 S. High St., Morgantown, WV 26501, or the charity of your choice.
