Hugh Donald “Don” Stansberry, 71, of Fairmont, passed away Sunday (Sept. 8, 2013) at Fairmont General Hospital.
He was born in Fairmont on June 24, 1942, a son of the late Ernest Lemar and Irene Delores (Gaskill) Stansberry.
Don proudly served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a self-employed construction worker by trade. He also worked as a foreman for Sterling Fawcett. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on model airplanes.
He is survived by his loving wife, Darlena (Mealo) Stansberry of Fairmont; two sons, Kevin Stansberry of Fairmont and Steven Stansberry; two sisters, Linda Kay Bashaw of Fairmont, and Lois Ellen Stiles and her husband Harold of Fairmont; his two dogs, Rusty and Callie; and his cat, Kip.
Also surviving is a brother-in-law, James Mealo of Rachel; and three sisters-in-law, Linda Campbell and her husband Harvey of Fairmont, Gloria Dick and her husband Chris of Fairmont, and Debra Layman and her companion Bob Hall of Baxter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Deloris Ann White; and two brothers-in-law, Willard “Sonny” Bashaw and Terry H. White.
In keeping with the wishes of the deceased, his body will be cremated and a private memorial service will be held at a later date at Pisgah Cemetery in Monongalia County where full military honors will be performed.
