Betty Lee (Miller) Fortney, 83, of Terra Alta, died Friday (Sept. 6, 2013) at her home.
Betty was born June 2, 1930, in Fairmont, a daughter of the late Charles W. and Romanza (Carney) Miller.
She was a 1948 graduate of Mannington High and worked as a secretary for Monongahela Power for 18 years; she was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Ladies Golf Association at Fairmont Field Club and was also a member of Preston Country Club and Ladies Golf Association in Kingwood.
She is survived by two stepsons, Wayne H. Fortney Jr. of Morgantown and Roger Fortney of Glady; one sister, JoAnn Cain of Mohrsville, Pa.; one brother and spouse, Don R. and Donna of Knoxville, Tenn.; and one special friend, Rhonda Shillingburg, whom she thought of as the daughter she never had, of Kingwood.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Wayne Hollis Fortney Sr.
Family and friends may call at Rotruck-Lobb Funeral Home Kingwood Chapel, 295 S. Price St., from 5-8 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel at 1:30 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Neil Parsons officiating. Interment will be at East Oak Grove Cemetery in Morgantown.
