Margaret F. “Maggie” Stemple, 86, of Canary Street, Worthington, passed away at 5:45 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 21, 2013) at the West Virginia University Hospitals Ruby Memorial.
She was born in Worthington, April 30, 1927, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Butcher Starr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Alex Kazmire, Nov. 17, 1977; her second husband, John M. Stemple, Dec. 28, 1990; and one brother, Joseph Starr Jr.
She is survived by her nephew, John Starr and his wife Belinda, of Fairmont; two great-nieces, Mary Ann Tobesman and her husband Sam and daughter Audrey, of Fairmont, and Andrea Starr, of Fairmont; and a host of friends.
Maggie worked as a clerk for the Champion Stores and Williams Mines Company Store. She also worked at G.C. Murphy in Shinnston and for the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 929, Shinnston and the American Legion Post No. 31, Shinnston. She was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Monongah, a 50-year member of the American Legion Ladies Auxillary, Shinnston, and a 45-year member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 929, Shinnston.
Maggie enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo, playing cards, doing yard work and sitting on her porch. She was always willing and able to give service to others and all who knew her, loved her.
Friends may call at the Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St., Shinnston, from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, where funeral services will he held at 11 a.m. Monday, with Rev. Thomas Dagle of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Shinnston, officiating. Interment will be in the Shinnston Masonic Cemetery.
