— Delbert “Bud” Dumire, 93, of Fairmont, passed away on Saturday (Feb. 1, 2014) at his home.

He was born in Tucker County on July 27, 1920, a son of the late Abie Dumire and Edna (Wotring) Dumire.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Betty (Boyd) Dumire.

Bud was awarded the Purple Heart while serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

He retired from the Owens-Illinois Glass Plant in Fairmont after 38 years of service. Delbert was a faithful member of the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ. His hobbies included camping, bowling and golfing. He also enjoyed all kinds of sports. Following his retirement, he enjoyed helping others do remodeling projects on their homes.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children: his son, Terry Dumire and his wife Kimberly of Fairmont, and his daughter, Sue Bush of Rock Hill, S.C.; three very special grandchildren, Jannetta Morrison of South Carolina, Kristie Jones and her husband Corey of Arizona, and Jacob Dumire of Fairmont; three great-grandchildren, Sophia Morrison, Mason Morrison and Jonathan Morrison; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Wilmer Dumire, Milford Dumire and Gerold “Jim” Dumire; a sister, Reva Spiker; and two sisters in infancy.

Family and Friends may call at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., on Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The funeral service will be on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Evangelist Jonathan Stevens officiating. Interment services will follow at Mt. Nebo Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ, 2013 Pleasant Valley Rd., Fairmont, WV 26554.
