Lois S. Vorselen, 84, of Rivesville, passed away peacefully Monday (June 24, 2013) in Monroeville, Pa.
She was born July 22, 1928, in Elizabeth, N.J., daughter of the late Henry and Louise Stemmer Spoonauer.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Alphonse L. Vorselen.
Lois was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Fairmont.
She was a graduate of Battin High School in 1946, and then worked for the New Jersey Bell Telephone Co. A resident of Rivesville since 1972, she worked at the Fairmont General Hospital Gift Shop for 18 years.
Survivors include two sons, Craig and his wife Molly Vorselen of Riverside, Conn., and Brian Vorselen of Rivesville; three daughters, Karen and husband James Beckman of Fairmont, Janet and husband Tuck Paris of Pittsburgh, and Linda Mathurin of Round Rock, Texas; 12 grandchildren, Heather Vorselen, Melissa Vorselen, Michael Vorselen, Tess Vorselen, Beranne Vorselen, James Beckman, Mallory Boram, Shannon Beckman, Kira Paris, Matthew Paris, Francesca Mathurin and Christian Mathurin; and three great-grandchildren, James Logan Beckman, Kaylee Jean Beckman and Addison Boram.
Friends and family may call at Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 201 Second St., Rivesville, from 3-9 p.m. today. A vigil service will be held in the funeral home today at 8 p.m. with Deacon David Lester officiating. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church with Father Robert Perriello as celebrant. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Fairmont.
