Brad Fulayter

Steven Bradley “Brad” Fulayter, 53, of Barrackville, passed away unexpectedly Friday (June 28, 2013).

He was born Aug. 22, 1959, in Fairmont, the son of Sylvia Fulayter of Barrackville and the late Steve Fulayter, who preceded him in death in 1975.

Brad graduated as the valedictorian of Barrackville High School’s senior class in 1977 and then pursued a political science degree. Brad was employed with the U.S. Postal Service and was a veteran, having proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He was Catholic by faith and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, where he previously taught Sunday school.

His love of family was beyond reproach. Brad enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching sports and riding motorcycles. He attended the yearly MountainFest and liked watching TV wrestling events with family. He boasted of being a master gardener, but was mostly proud of watching his sisters, nieces and nephew participate in school activities, sports and dance performances.

Brad was preceded in death by his father, Steve Fulayter; two brothers, Richard Fulayter and Joseph Fulayter; a sister, Ann Fulayter; paternal grandparents, Alex and Rosalie Fulayter; and maternal grandparents, Dewey and Nellie Hawk.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sisters, Katherine Hursey and Janet Fulayter; nieces, Haley Hursey and Serea Fulayter; nephew, Samuel Hursey; and loving girlfriend, Brenda Romano and her son, Casey. He also is survived by his “favorite” brother-in-law, John Hursey; paternal aunt, Elizabeth Kocsis; and paternal cousins, Beverly Boothe, Patricia Logan, George Kocsis, Joe Doby, Randall Kocsis, Aaron Kocsis and Jenny Reese.

Also surviving are maternal aunts and uncles, Ruth Janoske, DeWayne Hawk and wife Irene, Loran Hawk and wife Jean, Jerry Hawk, Larry Hawk and wife Stella, and Sandra Waybright and husband Bernard; along with many maternal cousins, whom he endeared.

He was a loving man, cherished all his family members, near and far, and looked forward to every visit.

“Love you, miss you, bye,” from your mom and sisters.

Friends may call at Ross Funeral Home, 801 Fairmont Ave., Fairmont, from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Maryland Avenue with Father Walter Jagela as celebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. A vigil service led by Father Walter will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Marion County Veterans Council will conduct full military honors at the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brian Hawk, Gary Hawk, Larry Hawk, John Hursey, Samuel Hursey, Aaron Kocsis, Randall Kocsis and Charles Reese.
