Donna Frances Barker, 65, of Fairmont, passed from this life Monday (Nov. 19, 2012) at the Pierpont Center, after a long illness.
She was born in Fairmont on Sept. 16, 1947, a daughter of the late Melvin Lee and Martha Lorraine Victor Barker.
Donna was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church and was loved very much by her church family. She was a graduate of Fairmont Senior High School. She enjoyed working in the store at the Pierpont Center, arts and crafts, playing bingo, jig-saw puzzles, watching television, taking field trips and especially visiting with her many friends. She had a great deal of intestinal fortitude and patience to be able to figure out just about anything that she had to do.
Ms. Barker is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Betty Barker of Fairmont and Richard and Shirley Barker of Levels; one sister-in-law, Donna Barker of Maryland; one brother-in-law, Anthony Tarley of Monongah; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Phillip and Melvin Barker; five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Marcella Tarley, Marjorie and Walley Sawka, Mary Louise and Tony Jacques, Martha and John Toma and an infant sister Meriam.
Donna’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Pierpont Center for their kind and caring support. A special thank you to Kerrie, who went above and beyond in her efforts to care for Donna, and also to Hospice Care for their efforts in Donna’s final days.
Friends may call at the Frey Home For Funerals (Addition Chapel A), 320 Madison St., Fairmont, today from 2-8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon. Services will be held in the funeral home Saturday at noon with the Rev. Elise Renee Neal officiating. Interment will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery.
