Charlton Dean Lawson, 49, of Fairmont, entered into eternal life on Saturday (Nov. 25, 2012) at his residence.
He was born Aug. 16, 1963, at Queens Hospital in Queens, N.Y., the son of Fred Pough and Katherine A. Lawson Williams of Rockaway Beach, N.Y.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Fairmont. He was a former employee of TeleTech in Morgantown, serving as a customer service specialist.
Charlton was an excellent cook and enjoying having friends to come and share a meal. He also enjoyed watching basketball, football and movies on television.
Charlton also enjoyed taking Jesse and Jamere to the movies and to the park at the Gateway Connector. He never met a stranger and always had a big smile on his face.
Survivors are his mother; two sons, Jesse Lawson and Charlton Dean Lawson Jr., both of Fairmont; one brother, Jesse Williams of Queens, N.Y.; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Shannon Price of Birmingham, Ala., and Jonie (Perry) Zoe of Bronx, N.Y.; two aunts and one uncle, Alice Foote of Flushing, N.Y., and Jesse (Emma) Lawson of Fairmont; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Joe and Virginia McGrath and Jamere and Yvette Harston; also a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Hubert T. and Catherine M. White; grandmother, Maxine Lawson; one aunt, Winifred M. White; and two uncles, Emmett and Herbert White.
At the request of the deceased, cremation has been done. A memorial service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 9 Oakwood Road, Fairmont, with pastor James Volpe officiating.
Interment of the cremains will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Fairmont for the family only. Flag-folding ceremony will be rendered by the Marion County Veterans Council. Cremation services provided by Frey Home for Funerals.
