John Price

John Ross Price, 69, died on Friday (June 28, 2013) at his home on Flat Run near Mannington.

He was born Feb. 28, 1944, in Fairmont, a son of the late Arch and Roberta Jones Price. John was a graduate of Farmington High School in 1962 and attended Fairmont State College.

He had a 30-year career with the Marion County Board of Education working as a finish carpenter prior to retiring in 2004. John loved woodworking, the outdoors, hunting, sharing stories with family and friends, and his home on Flat Run, which he converted from a one-room schoolhouse.

Survivors include his wife, Patty Whitlatch Barnes Price; his brother David and wife Cecelia of Deep Creek Lake, Md., and their daughters, Christie and Aimee; three sons, Todd Price of Mods Run and his sons, Joshua and Jake Price, his fiancée, Rita Lockwood, and her daughter, Chelsea; Tim Price and wife Erin of Barrackville and his daughters, Olivia and Ella; Tiger Price of Mods Run and his daughter, Emily; his stepson, Joe Barnes and wife Tammy of Grafton and daughters, JoHanna and JaTanna; and stepdaughter, Tonya Barnes, Richmond, Va.

Friends may call at the Hutson Funeral Home in Farmington on Sunday from 2-8 p.m. and Monday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. John Jones officiating. Interment will be in the IOOF Cemetery at Farmington, with a private graveside service.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
