Darla Jean Raines, 46, of Levels Community, Fairmont, passed away Sunday (April 7, 2013) at her home following a long, courageous battle with Huntington’s disease.
She was born in Fairmont on July 23, 1966, a daughter of James Cunningham of Fairview and the late Nellie Cunningham.
Darla was a loving homemaker, mother and grandmother. She was a graduate of North Marion High School.
In her earlier years she worked as a clerk at The Bread Store in Fairmont. She enjoyed riding and traveling with her husband in his tractor trailer all over the country. She traveled more than 300,000 miles and had the joy of traveling her last mile in her husband’s truck. She also enjoyed camping at her dad’s camp and watching NASCAR.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her loving husband of 19 years, Ernest Raines of Fairmont; one daughter, Brandy Bumstead of Fairmont; four grandchildren, Summer Bennett, Winter Bennett, Ethan Raines and Silas Raines; and one sister, Rhonda Cunningham of Hutson, Fla.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Murphy.
In keeping with the wishes of the deceased, her body will be cremated and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, has been entrusted with arrangements.
