Anna Krasnahira McCoy, 101, of Gray’s Flats, passed away Sunday (Sept. 29, 2013) at Fitzwater’s Assisted Living in Fairmont.
She was born Aug. 12, 1912, in New York, N.Y., daughter of the late Dimitric and Paraskiva (Perinoka) Krasnahira.
Prior to her death, Anna was the oldest living member of Ballah United Methodist Church in Grant Town, where she formerly served on the board of directors and was a Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the Women’s Society of Christian Services, and was active in the Keystone Farm Women’s Club for many years. All who knew her found her to be warm, loving and willing to give of her time to others. Church was a mainstay in her life. She especially loved teaching, telling biblical stories and working with other members of her church community.
She is survived by one sister, Anna Mary Frye and husband Henry of Fairmont; and nieces and nephews, Linda Brown and husband Jim of Barrackville, Betty Cunningham of Farmington, Ronald McCoy and wife Marilyn, Lurah Davis and husband Edwin, Barbara Brady, Ronald Frye, Gregory Frye and wife Rita, Doris Jean Walls, and Patty and Diane Campbell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Sam Sikinow; her husband, Robert Jennings McCoy; her son, Robert K. McCoy; three siblings, Elsie Beavan, Kathryn Campbell and George Krasnahira Sikinow; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Fitzwater’s Assisted Living for the excellent care they gave to Anna.
Friends and family may call at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. in Fairmont, from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and noon to 2 p.m. Thursday. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor Duane Stiles officiating. Interment will follow at Ballah Cemetery in Grant Town.
