Steven Sidwell

Steven Richard Sidwell, 62, of Fairmont, passed from this life Wednesday (Oct. 2, 2013) at his home.

He was born in Fairmont, on Aug. 1, 1951, a son of the late Charles Reese “Toby” and Ruth May Hawkins Sidwell.

Steve was a Christian by faith. He had formerly worked at Frank’s Tire and at Bauer Lumber. He most recently has been working as an apartment manager and maintenance man. He had a good heart and took a great deal of pride in the quality of his work and felt best when he was busy.

He enjoyed tinkering and tried to fix anything he found that was broken or that he had taken apart. He also enjoyed old movies and was always trying to learn, through the Discovery and National Geographic channels.

In addition to his canine buddy and best friend “Queenie,” Mr. Sidwell is survived by his siblings, Charles Michael Lee and Sandy Sidwell of Fairmont, Robert Lee and Linda Hawkins of Grant Town, Marilyn Louise and Wes Miller of Ohio, Diane and John Green of Rivesville, and Carolyn and Matt Postel; and six nieces and nephews, Nikki, Tasha, Kristy, Charles, Joey and Bobby.

Steve had requested direct cremation with no type of services as his method of disposition.

Condolences may be sent to the family at fhff320@aol.com or www.freyhomeforfunerals.com.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
