— Richard (Dick) Randall Bartlett, 75, of Crete, Nev., formerly Denver, passed away Oct. 23, 2013.

He was born May 15, 1938, to Richard K. Bartlett and Virginia (Behan) Bartlett in Grafton (both deceased).

Dick graduated from East Fairmont High School in 1956, and received an associate of arts degree in accounting from Potomac State College in 1958.

Dick joined the United States Army in 1958 and served three years.

Dick married Sylvia Bowles June 1961 while both were stationed in Orleans, France. The couple welcomed a daughter, Pamela (Fye), in 1962, and a son, Gregory, in 1964.

Dick put his family at the center of his life from their early years in Keyser, through 35 years in Denver, and recently Crete, Neb.

He was chairman of the Elks Lodge in Denver, Colo., and spent most of his working years in retail as operations manager for Sweetbriar clothing stores. He coached Little League football and baseball, and attended every game, concert, parent-teacher conference, performance, Grandparent’s Day and field trip he could.

Dick restarted his life after a divorce in 1996, when he met and married Janis Storms in June 1996. The couple moved to Crete, Neb., where they both became active in the community. Dick was known about town as the guy who always waved and would graciously help with whatever needed done.

He is survived by his wife, Janis; children, Pamela and Marty Fye, Greg and Cherie Bartlett; grandchildren, Cassandre, Kadron and Breanna Fye, Josh and Ben Bartlett; and great-grandchild Maddix Fye. Other family members: stepdad, Jim Furbee; brothers and sisters, Walter and Janet Bartlett, Keith and Jeannie Bartlett, Barbara and Bill Poling, Valla and Larry Marteney, Edgar (deceased) and Margie Bartlett, Kay and John Murphy, Butch (deceased) and Mary Beth Furbee, Gary and Cathy Furbee, John and Mary Furbee, Linda and Russell Davis, and Sharon and Bob Nyland; nieces and nephews; and his stepchildren, whom Dick thought of as his own, Kirby Storms, Terri and Bill Bennett, JoAnn and Kevin Wilt, Kathy and Kent Body, Laura and Tim Link and Michael Storms (deceased); 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
