Howard Dunn Hayes Jr., formerly of Stafford, Va., passed away Thursday (May 16, 2013) at Hospice of Palm Beach County at JFK Hospital, Atlantis, Fla.
Howard was born Feb. 22, 1934, to the late Margaret Gail (Fuller) and Howard D. Hayes Sr. He graduated from West Fairmont High School, Fairmont, attended the University of Cincinnati, served in the U.S. Navy in Japan and Maryland, and worked for the National Geographic Magazine in Washington, D.C.
He was pre-deceased by his sister, Dorotha Dean Hoeflich.
He is survived by his son, Christopher D. Hayes and wife Brenda (Muller); granddaughters, Breanna Hayes Muller (Dennis) and Aubrey Hayes; his niece, Phyllis Barr, M.D. (Rick) and their children, Kevin, David and Elizabeth; also great friends, Dani and Hank, Karen and Jim, Pat and Clare D. Helmick Hayes.
His ashes will be scattered at a later date. The family requests that donations be made to the Hospice of Palm Beach County.
