Mary Lou Sickle

Mary Lou Sickle, 77, of Melbourne, Florida, and formerly of Fairmont, passed away Sunday (May 11, 2014) at the William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, Florida.

She was born in Kilarm on Feb. 24, 1937, a daughter of the late Ralph and Doris (Anderson) Starkey.

Mary Lou was a secretary by trade, working in the education field. She most recently was a manager at Shucker’s Oyster Boat and Kokomo’s Lounge in Melbourne, Florida. She also worked for the Head Start program in Fairmont and for the Boy Scouts of America in California. She was a graduate of Shinnston High School. She enjoyed bowling and playing cards and had a passion for horses.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas H. Sickle of Melbourne; two sons, Thomas Sickle and his wife Linda of Mannington, and Mike Sickle and his wife Mary Ann of Melbourne; seven grandchildren, Thomas Robert Sickle, Beth Ann Ingram, Brent Sickle, Chet Sickle, Amanda Cain, Megan Murphy and Jake Sickle; and three great-grandchildren, Brianna Medina, Evelyn Sickle and Harry Sickle.

Also surviving are two sisters, Carol Dudash and her husband Andy of Shinnston, and Kay Efaw and her husband Tom of Fairmont; one brother, Mark Starkey and his wife Cathy of Clarksburg; and her beloved German Shepherd, Max.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Loretta Lynn Murphy.

Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, from 5-8 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 1 p.m. Saturday. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover.

    Sam Pellerite, 93, of Zephyrhills, Florida (formerly of Village Way, Fairmont), passed away on Wednesday (June 25, 2014) in Simpsonville, South Carolina, where he had been living with his daughter during his battle with cancer. Sam was born on Nov. 13, 1920, in Fairmont, the son of the late Vincent and Maria (Galiano) Pellerite. He was the loving husband of the late Teresa Mae “Terry” (Cirillo) Pellerite.
