Phyllis Yvonne Belt McCann, 72, formerly of Farmington, went to be with the Lord on Monday (May 12, 2014). Phyllis died at home surrounded by her loving daughter Donna and husband Steve Davis and family. Phyllis fought a courageous battle with cancer.
Phyllis was born Aug. 23, 1941, at Farmington, a daughter of the late Alfred Glen Belt and Mabel Crim Belt.
She is survived by one daughter, Donna Jean Davis and husband Steve of Mannington, and one son, Mark Allen McCann of Bridgewater, Virginia. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Jessica and Cassidy McCann of Bridgewater, Virginia, Mark Allen McCann Jr. of Mannington, Tom Davis and fiancée Billie Hartley of Farmington, Rachel Donell and husband Tom “Bud” Donell of Mannington, Kayla Davis, Cheyenne Davis, Stephen Davis and her little buddy Boo Davis, all of Mannington. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Hunter, Madison, Trent, Colton and Chance; six sisters, Alma Cochran and husband Ed of Fairmont, Jessie Anderson of Bridgewater, Virginia, Geneva Opyoke of Farmington, Mabel “Dottie” Sturgeon of Farmington, Beverly “Buzzy” Sturgeon and husband Tommy of Rachel, and Athena Sturgeon and husband Roy of Farmington; and two brothers, Norvel Richard Belt and wife Geraldine of Amhurst, Ohio, and George Belt and fiancée Elaine Bland of Mannington.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers-in-law, Richard Sturgeon, William “Bill” Anderson and Jerry Opyoke.
Phyllis was a member of Farmington Oakhurst Church of Christ. She enjoyed going to yard sales, always looking for a bargain. She also enjoyed taking walks and listening to gospel music. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She will be sadly missed by all.
The family would like to thank Hospice Care Corp. for their care and concern during her illness.
Friends may call at Hutson Funeral Home in Farmington from 4-8 p.m. today, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with Evangelist Craig Matheny officiating. Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Farmington.
