— Lela Mae (Dozier) Bogard, 78, of Pricketts Creek Community, Fairmont, and formerly of McClelland, Ark., went to be with the Lord on Saturday (Oct. 27, 2012) at the Tygart Center at Fairmont surrounded by her daughters.

She was born in McClellan, Ark., on Nov. 3, 1933, a daughter of the late William J. and Lillian Uland Dozier.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Ervil Bogard Sr., in March 2002.

Lela was a loving homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the wife of an Air Force tech sergeant and lived in several states including New Hampshire, Texas, Indiana, Louisiana and Ohio. She also lived in North Africa for two years. She loved working in her flower gardens and making flower arrangements. She was a member of Samaria Free Methodist Church. She also loved to travel with her late husband. They spent every summer traveling and their favorite place to visit was the beach.

She is survived by four daughters, Diane Vincent and her husband Edward of Fairmont, Bonnie Sue Carrier of Fairmont, Deborah Cottrill of Fairmont and Connie Maynard of Tennessee; 17 grandchildren, Edward Vincent and his wife Tracy, Rebecca DeWitt and her husband Kerry, Billy Vincent and his wife Anja, Taylor Bogard, Randi Bogard, Summer Bogard, Tina Hladik and her husband Scott, Cindy Maynard, Crissy Young and her husband Junior, Joseph Maynard, Miranda Carrier-Brown, Tammy Miller and her husband Rodney, Rebecca Carrier Miller, Edward Carpenter and his wife Staci, Elizabeth Graban and her husband Ryan, Amber Carpenter and Christopher Carpenter and his wife Tabatha; and 31 great-grandchildren, Abbie, Cadence and Riley Vincent, Levi and Hunter DeWitt, Larissa, Nicolas, Marc and Billy Vincent, Rian and Tyler Bogard, Alexander and Justin Hladik, Mikal and Joslynn Maynard, Taylor and Ices Young, Samantha and Travis Brown, Makayla Glaspell-Carrier, Bailey Glaspell, Connor and Skylar Miller, Michael, Katelynn and Natalie Miller, Elijah Carpenter, Alexander, Owen and Zoey Graban and Ashton Carpenter.

Also surviving are a daughter-in-law, Debbie Bogard of Huntington; three brothers, Billy Eugene Dozier and his wife Patsy of Arkansas, Walter Jessie Dozier and his wife Lannie of North Carolina, and Robert Leon Dozier of Arkansas; a sister, Carolynn Henard of Arkansas; a brother-in-law, Elwood Bogard of Arkansas; and several in-laws, nieces, nephews and great-nieces and -nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Ervil Bogard Jr.; a sister, Bedie Bogard; two sisters in infancy; and a son-in-law, Joseph Maynard.

Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home at noon Wednesday with Pastor John Conaway officiating. Interment will follow at West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown.
