Frederick Michael “Mike” Rogers, 75, of Fairmont, passed away Sunday (Jan. 26, 2014) at the Madison Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Morgantown following an extended illness.
He was born in Fairmont on Feb. 15, 1938, a son of the late Chester F. and Madge (Triplett) Rogers.
Mike proudly served his country with the U.S. Army. He was retired from Monongahela Power Company with 38 years of service, where he worked as a surveyor and a real estate representative. He was a graduate of Fairmont Senior High School and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Donna (Guthrie) Rogers of Fairmont; two sons, John Pratt and his wife Bonnie of Morgantown, and Robert Pratt of Virginia; one daughter, Janet Miklasz of Fairmont; and one grandson, Kenneth Miklasz.
Also surviving are three brothers, Jim Rogers and his wife Christy of Cameron, John Rogers and his wife Ruth of West Columbia, S.C., and David Rogers and his wife Connie of Arlington, Texas; one sister, Linda Rogers Bell of Fairmont; a nephew, Tom Bell; four nieces, Tiffany Biggs, Lynn Rogers, Joy Rogers and Hattie Jo DeBolt; and a special family friend, Pablo Monteon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jesse Miklasz.
In keeping with the wishes of the deceased, his body will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, has been entrusted with arrangements.
The family would like to thank Jennifer and Dr. Paine of the Madison House for helping to give the family the peace of mind knowing that Mike was well taken care of by people who cared for him and also to Virginia and his roommate Russ.
