Filmore Donini

— Filmore W. Donini, 89, of Fairmont, left this world to join the Lord and his wife in eternity on Sunday (Jan. 26, 2014).

He was born June 27, 1924, in Westmoreland County, Pa., son of the late Ernest Donini and Rosy Chiste Donini Phillips.

Filmore served his country during World War II from March 6, 1943, through Dec. 28, 1945. He received the WWII Victory Medal Meritorious unit badge, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two bronze service stars, bronze arrowhead July 45, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with three bronze service stars and a good conduct medal. He was a life member of VFW Post 629.

He retired frp, Arkwright Mine with 43 years of service. He was a lifetime fan of Pittsburgh Pirates baseball. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fairmont.

He is survived by two sons, William Donini and wife Debra of Lost Creek, and Rick Donini and his wife Susie of Fairmont; five grandchildren, Melissa Baker and her husband Brian, Chris Donini and his wife Mandi, Craig Donini, Jennifer Shelton and boyfriend Shaun, and Nicolas Donini and his wife Barbara,; 10 great-grandchildren, Cecil and Raymond Carpenter, Makaila and Darian Shelton, and Jasmine, Dominic, Christian, Anthony, Christopher and Cash Donini.

In addition to his parents, Filmore was preceded in death by his wife, Isabell Donini.

Family members would like to express thanks to Fairmont General Hospital doctors and staff. A special thanks to Sister Stella Cronauer.

Following Filmore’s request, there will be no visitation. He will be entombed next to his wife, Isabell, at Grandview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. A memorial service will be announced at a later date at Domico Funeral Home Fairmont. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.domicofh.com.
