Donald Eugene Gordon, 76, of Fairmont, passed from this life Tuesday (Nov. 19, 2013) at Fairmont General Hospital, after a long illness.
He was born in Fairmont on March 31, 1937, a son of the late Kenneth and Edna Satterfield Gordon.
Don was a Christian by faith. He worked as a commercial driver for the BFI Co., and had been a handyman at the Midtown Novelties Co. He enjoyed Elvis Presley and loved spending time with his special great-great-nephew Paxton.
Mr. Gordon is survived by one brother, Jack Gordon of Chester, Ill.; two sisters, Elaine Hyatt of Douglas, Ariz., and Diane Gordon of Fairmont; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Gordon of Monongah; and a host of nieces and nephews, including Joyce and Bob Satterfield, with whom he made his home for the last 10-plus years, and their daughters, Amber Satterfield and her companion Albert Tichenor and their son Paxton, and Erica Satterfield and her companion Justin Mundell, both of Fairmont.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, William, Paul, Richard (Jean), Dale and Kenneth Gordon; and one sister, Barbara Gordon.
Friends may call at Frey Home For Funerals (Historic Chapel), 320 Madison St., Fairmont, from 5-8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday. Services will be held in the funeral home at noon Thursday with Pastor Roy Weese officiating. Interment will follow at Barrackville Community Cemetery.
