William “Butch” John Janicki, 73, of Winfield, passed away in his home Friday (March 15, 2013) with his family at his side after battling a long illness.
He was born Jan. 9, 1940, in Fairmont, son of the late Wiley and Stella (Mazurek) Janicki.
Butch was a veteran of the U.S. Army and graduated with a chemistry degree from Fairmont State College. He was formerly employed by Avtex Fiber and retired from the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Jean (Prickett) Janicki; three daughters, Johanna Janicki of Granville, Ohio, Sonja Sisung and husband David of Atlanta, Ga., and Susanne Summers and husband Jeff of Cross Lanes; a brother, Tom Janicki and wife Carolyn of Charleston; a sister, Dorothy Janicki of Fairmont; grandchildren, Anthony and Alex Bare, Amanda Mata and husband Jose, Brandon Hazlett and Lexie Summers; and a great-grandchild, Noah Mata.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Janicki; a brother, Edward Janicki; and a sister, Helen Wierbonski.
Friends and family may call at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. in Fairmont, from 3-8 p.m. Monday and 10-11 a.m. Tuesday. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with Father Robert Perriello officiating. Interment will follow at the Monumental Cemetery with full military rights being performed at graveside by the Marion County Veteran’s Council.
