— Patricia Gay Elsey, 69, of Fairmont (Mt. Harmony Community), passed from this life in her home under Hospice care Monday (March 25, 2013) after a long illness.

She was born in Grafton on April 27, 1943, the only daughter of the late Clyde Lewis and Lula Nancy Carpenter Satterfield.

A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Patty was a homemaker that had the simple task of raising five children on a farm. She was also an active member of Fairmont’s Central Church of the Nazarene, where she taught Sunday school and served as the local missionary president. She enjoyed reading her Bible, listening to music and visiting with friends.

Mrs. Elsey is survived by her loving husband of almost 52 years, Delton Eugene “Gene” Elsey; three daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Daniel Poling of Grafton, Cindy and Rick Himelrick of Green Bank, and Trina and Gene Summers of Fairmont; two sons and daughters-in-law, Duane and Ellie Elsey of Fairmont, and Bruce and Mary Elsey of Inwood; two brothers, Francis (Ruth) Satterfield of Bethesda, Ohio, and Edward (Helen) Satterfield of Dayton, Pa.; 10 grandchildren, Heather, Andy, Ashley, Joey and Kaylee Elsey, Megan (Ronald) Walters, Cody and Tessa Himelrick, Laura DeWalick and Stephen Poling; three great-grandchildren, Jayda, Ella and Blake Walters; brothers-in-law, Paul Elsey and Kenny (Ethel) Elsey, both of Fairmont; sister-in-law, Linda (Dave) Wyockoff of Salem; and also several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister-in-law, Carol Elsey.

Patty’s family would like to say, “Thank you for the wonderful care!” to Dr. Philip Horner, Dr. Coleen Watkins and Amedysis Hospice, also Milan Puskar Health Right, Inc. for all of the help with meds. They have also requested that memorial contributions be made in her name to Central Church of the Nazarene, 2nd Street and Walnut Avenue, Fairmont, WV 26554

Friends may call at the Frey Home For Funerals (Addition Chapel A), 320 Madison St., Fairmont, today from 1-8 p.m. and Thursday from 9-11 a.m. Services will be held in the funeral home Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Doug Hendrixson and the Rev. Brian Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at the Clermont cemetery.
