Norma Yost

Norma Jean Yost, 81, of Mannington, passed from this life Friday (June 7, 2013) in the home of her loving granddaughter, under Hospice Care, with her granddaughter and daughter by her side.

She was born in Marion County (White Rock area) on Jan. 6, 1931, a daughter of the late Harry Thurman and Clara Agnes Jones Brumage.

Norma was Presbyterian by faith. She was a homemaker and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She had a true “green thumb” when it came to her vegetable and flower gardens. She also had a special love of animals and their care.

Ms. Yost is survived by her two sons and one daughter-in-law, Denzil Yost of Rymer, and Randy and Jo Ann Yost of Fairmont; her daughter, Debbie Yost of Four States; her brother and sister-in-law, Harry T. Yost Jr. and his wife Diane of Fairmont; nine grandchildren including her primary caregiver and her husband Cindy and Allen Sturgeon whose home she shared, of Mannington; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Charles Willard, Dale Okey, Ray Denzil, Howard Edward and James Loyd Brumage, and seven sisters, Adrien Brady, Doris Heaney, Alice Villers, Maurice Criss, Mary Stone, Clara Belle Brumage and Helen Madon Brumage.

Norma’s family would like to thank the Monongalia General Hospital, doctors and their staffs and Hospice Care for all of the love and support they extended through her entire illness.

 Friends may call at the Frey Home For Funerals (Historic Chapel), 320 Madison St., Fairmont, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday. Services will be held in the funeral home at 1 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Harold Cooper or Rev. Rex Musgrove officiating. Interment will follow at the Brumage Cemetery.
