Margaret “Peggy” Burns Fischer, a resident of Plantation, Fla., since 1967, beloved wife and mother, and a member of St. Gregory The Great Catholic Church, died Thursday (Nov. 7, 2013), after a long struggle with melanoma.
She was born May 22, 1930, in Fairmont, to James P. Burns and Pauline Arkwright Burns.
She was a graduate of St. Peter’s Catholic High School in Fairmont. She graduated from Seton Hill College in Greensburg, Pa. In 1953, she married Dr. John T. Fischer; they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Oct. 17, 2013.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Dr. John T. Fischer; five children, Jeanne (Clayton) Yuen of Apopka, Fla., Dr. James P. (Louise) Fischer of Palm Harbor, Fla., Thomas Fischer of Las Vegas, Nev., Gary (Dawn) Fischer of Coral Springs, Fla., and Dr. Carol (Todd) Heebner of Columbia, S.C.; 13 grandchildren, Michael, Kelly and Justin Yuen, Erik and Carly Fischer, Amanda, Timothy and Travis Fischer, Danielle, Paul and Kelly Heebner, Carrie Roper, and Brian Rouse; and three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Ryne and Reid Roper.
Her brother, James P. Burns III, preceded her in death.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Monday, Nov. 11, at St. Gregory The Great Catholic Church. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery.
