Frank Junior Rutherford Jr., 79, of Monongah, passed away Thursday (July 18, 2013) at the Tygart Center in Fairmont.
He was born in Marion County on Nov. 12, 1933, a son of the late Frank Rutherford, Sr. and Sylvia (Lemasters) Rutherford.
He was preceded in death by his wife Della May (Rosser) Rutherford in 1995.
Mr. Rutherford worked at the Fairmont Box Co. for 32 years, holding several positions during that time. Most recently he was employed as a currier with Huntington Banks.
He was a member of the Fairmont Moose Lodge No. 9 and the Square Circle Hunting and Fishing Club. Frank enjoyed attending the Sage Brush Round-Up, hunting, fishing and racing cars in his younger years. He was a fan of WVU Mountaineers football and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He is survived by his three children, his son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Kelly Rutherford of Swisher Hill, his daughters and a son-in-law, Debra and Mike Basnett of Worthington and Linda David of Farmington; three grandchildren, Todd Basnett and his wife Tiffany of Colorado, Modi Patrick David of Farmington and Ryan Rutherford of Swisher Hill; and a great-grandson, River Michael Basnett, and a soon-to-be- born great-grandson, Remington Noah Basnett.
Also surviving is an uncle, Gilbert Lemasters of Colfax; and a nephew, Ray Allen and his wife Regina of Anmoore.
In addition to his wife and parents, Frank was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Ellen Hendershot; his son-in-law, Modi David; a nephew Paul Hendershot and several aunts and uncles.
Friends may call at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St. from 4-8 p.m. today and from noon-2 p.m. Saturday. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Robert Tennant officiating. Interment will follow at the Janes Memorial Cemetery.
