Etta Vincent

Etta Jean M. Vincent, 83, of Pleasant Valley Road, Fairmont, passed away Friday evening (July 26, 2013) in Ruby Memorial Hospital.

She was born Feb. 2, 1930, in Fairmont, daughter of the late John Leo and Elladean K. “Swisher” Dodd.

Mrs. Vincent was a member of the Tree of Life Church, Fairfax Street, Fairmont. She was active with the Church Bible Club. She was a graduate of East Fairmont High School in 1948.

Mrs. Vincent served as manager for Workingman’s Store in both Fairmont and Clarksburg with 25 years of service. She truly loved playing golf at White Day Golf Course. She also was active as a poll worker during many elections.

She enjoyed needle work activity, knitting and sewing. She also enjoyed reading.

Jean enjoyed all activities with her grandchildren. She also loved being a neighbor, active with the Pleasant Valley Home Owners.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Debbie and Bill Clelland of Lexington, S.C.; a son and his wife, Richard and Crystal Vincent of Clarksburg; four grandchildren, Chase and Emily Clelland of Elgin, S.C., Brandi and Brandon Vann of Lexington, S.C., Fallon and Michael Savina of Clarksburg, and Tyler and Kayla Vincent of Clarksburg; four great-grandchildren, Isabella and Abigail Vincent of Clarksburg, Addison Savina of Clarksburg and Mason Vann of Lexington, S.C.; a brother, Richard L. Dodd of Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, from 6-8 p.m. today, 1-8 p.m. on Monday and 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Richard Buonaiuto officiating. Entombment will follow in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont.

  • Nuke-arms grade stock has been cut by Iran

    Iran has converted three quarters of a nuclear stockpile that it could have turned quickly into weapons-grade uranium into less volatile forms and is well on the way toward transforming the rest, the U.N. atomic agency reported Thursday.
    The development — agreed to by Iran under a nuclear deal it struck late last year with six world powers — leaves Tehran with substantially less of the 20-percent enriched uranium that it would need for a nuclear warhead.
