Ella Cook

Ella Marie Minnich Cook, 67, of Fairmont, passed away Wednesday (July 24, 2013) at Fairmont General Hospital after a long illness.

She was born Jan. 7, 1946, in Fairmont and grew up in the Coon’s Run area of Monongah. She was the daughter of the late Zella Lena Saunders Minnich Thompson and the late David Ross Minnich.

Ella was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Louise Minnich Commodore of Kingwood; and one nephew, Jeffrey Alan Starn of Morgantown.

She is survived by her loving husband after just celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in February 2013.

She is survived by one brother, David Minnich and wife Louise of Clarksburg; one sister, Stella Wright of Everson; one son, Raymond Andrew Cook of Fairmont and companion Brenda Morris; two daughters, Kimberly Ann Cook of Fairmont, and Lisa Marie Cook McCullough and husband Scott of Virginia Beach, Va.; four grandchildren, Alyssa Lantz of Monongah, Phillip Cook of Fairmont, Austin Barber of Fairmont and Nicholas Cook of Fairmont; one great-granddaughter, Kamryn Jade Lantz; one aunt, Kathleen Bissett of Fairmont; one brother-in-law, Richard Cook of Fairmont; and one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Ann Cook Starn and her husband Eric of Morgantown. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and one loving lifelong friend, Dorothea Kanios of Fairmont, and Thomas and Jean Cook of Fairmont.

Ella was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Club for several years at both VFW 7048 and VFW 629 of Fairmont. She was an active member of the PTA of Hickman Run School, Brownie Troop leader and bowled on several women’s leagues. She worked at Gee Bees, Hills and Ames for a total of 30 years combined.

She enjoyed her grandchildren, crocheting, reading, gardening and home cooking. She styled many people’s hair, which included haircuts and home perms, and styled many wigs as well. She also enjoyed traveling to Cass with her husband and family.

A memorial service/dinner is scheduled to take place at 2 p.m. Sunday at VFW 629, downstairs, on Fairmont Avenue, Fairmont. Family and friends are invited through the press to attend. Guest speaker and family friend Rodney McGinnis will be speaking.

Because of the wishes of the deceased, her body will be donated to the WVU Human Gift Registry and will be cremated.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family and sent to Raymond Cook, PO Box 1191, Fairmont, WV 26554.

Sam was born on Nov. 13, 1920, in Fairmont, the son of the late Vincent and Maria (Galiano) Pellerite. He was the loving husband of the late Teresa Mae “Terry” (Cirillo) Pellerite.
